Botswana’s most respectable beef-exports’ enterprise, the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC), was awarded the International
Diamond Prize for Excellence in Quality, by the European Society for Quality Research on 09th December 2017 at its annual conference held in Vienna, Austria.
The award exemplifies BMC’s commitment to being a top-end producer of quality beef products, which have earned the entity
global recognition and admiration over the past five (5) decades. In receiving the award on behalf of the Commission, BMC’s Chief Strategy Officer Mr Brian Dioka, reiterated the matchlessness of Botswana Beef and how the Commission had been an investor on quality over the years through its rigorous implementation of an integrated quality management system.
Dioka said the BMC – besides being an ISO 9001:2008 organization – had in 2017 improved its global food safety international standards and many other accreditations, by achieving the evasive AA Grading on the British Retail
Consortium (BRC) Issue 7; and getting top assessments from the McDonald’s food group for the Lobatse and Francistown abattoirs. He also cited strategic targets the Commission has ambitioned for 2018 which included progressing to the BRC Issue 8 as well as achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification; all of these intended to improve the quality profile/portfolio of the BMC and its products as well as further translate that into an increase of Botswana beef exports to lucrative markets.
The BMC was awarded alongside the Botswana Tourism Organization, Stadium Companies South Africa, Ministry of Health in Oman and other global companies.
